Plants are my inspiration

I am a botanical artist from South West (Western Australia). I love to create very detailed, colourful paintings of local wildflowers and exotic plants. All my paintings are watercolours.

Recent works

Eucalyptus torquata.  Also called the Coral Gum, this eucalypt is found in the Kalgoorlie/Coolgardie area of Western Australia. With its beautiful red and pink flowers it is widely used as a street tree. This large painting as sold recently at the Margaret River Region Open Studios event and is now available as a high quality limited edition print. Please contact me if you are interested.

Rhododendron.  Most species of Rhododendron originate in Eastern Asia and have been transported around the globe. This specimen was painted while I was in the south of France doing a course with the well known Irish botanical artist, Mary Dillon, at the Clos Mirabel near the Pyrennees. Acacia pulchella. A wattle, also known as Prickly Moses or its Noongar name, Mindaleny, this shrub is endemic to the south-west of Western Australia, common on the Swan Coastal Plain and Darling Ranges. Eucalyptus rhodantha. This small straggly tree, also known as the Rose Mallee, is endemic to the northern wheatbelt area of Western Australia. With its bright flowers, it is often grown as an ornamental tree. This painting was sold at the recent Margaret River Open Studios event and so is now only available as a high quality limited edition print. Please contact me if you are interested.

Templetonia retusa. This spectacular plant, commonly known as Cocky’s Tongue, is found in coastal woodlands and heaths from Shark Bay in Western Australia to South Australia as well as inland in the Flinders Ranges.  The painting won the People’s Choice Award at the 2023 Busselton Wildflower Show. Corymbia ficifolia. Endemic to an area near Peaceful Bay on the southern coast of Western Australia, this small tree produces brightly coloured flowers that can range from a salmon hue through to crimson. They are widely planted as street trees throughout Australia. The white-framed painting measures 74cm x 70cm and is available now ($980). It is also available as a high quality limited edition print. Eucalyptus macrocarpa. A mallee endemic to the south-west of Western Australia, this tree which is commonly known by its Noongar name, Mottlecah, grows on open sandy heath areas. It is a beautiful and very decorative small tree with the largest of all Eucalypt flowers, which can be up to 10cm in diameter. It flowers from September to December. Grevillea bronwenae. This is a species of flowering plant in the family Proteaceae and is endemic to a small area south of Busselton in the south-west corner of Western Australia. It is an erect shrub usually with more or less linear leaves, and wheel-like clusters of crimson flowers. The white-framed painting measures 40cm x 47cm and is available now ($420).
